QSLs – 2017 CQ Worldwide CW

Because it was such a monumental occasion, being the 50th anniversary of the first entry into the CQ Worldwide contest from Signal Point, we opted to QSL 100% for this contest.  Geoff, W0CG,  designed a foldout commemorative card and arranged for printing by a vendor in Vancouver who has done super work for us before. PVRC donated $300 of the printing cost and our former member K4LT (now AD8CW) also donated $300. NA2U kicked in $50 and the club covered the small remaining balance. From there W9VA did a TREMENDOUS job printing and sticking labels and sending out the cards for distribution. W0TT, W0CG, and W1FJ himself also helped with the distribution.

We were surprised to receive a sizeable invoice from ARRL for use of the outgoing QSL bureau, but the League reconsidered the bill after CCC member Bill, W9VA artfully explained how many PJ2T members support the ARRL through their Maxim Society and Legacy Circle programs.

A number of stations QSLd directly, and have already received this special card from our wonderful QSL manager W3HNK.  Another 7000+ cards are still making their way thorough the stateside and overseas QSL bureaus.

I’ve received quite a number of great complements from contesters worldwide about our QSL card for the event. People are receiving it, reading every word, and then displaying it on their walls, just as we had hoped.
